Thoughts, anyone??
I'm looking for suggestions. The reason I started this blog was to kind of have a "diary" of sorts to be able to look back on, maybe even print out and put in an album for future memories. However, in the meantime, or around the same time I started this, I also started FaceBooking. FaceBook has been so simple and so easy and so rewarding because not only do I get to post little one or two sentence thoughts about what's going on in our lives or a nice thought for the day, but I also get to read everyone elses, very simply. My regret is that since FaceBook is so easy and so accessible I neglect this blog. Does anyone know if there is a way to connect the two? I'd like to have it set up where, when I post something to FaceBook, it also shows on the blog. That way, someday I could print it all out because,to my knowledge anyway, there is no way to print out all my past posts on FaceBook -- which really would be the ultimate diary! I'm quite sure there is a way to have the opposite - to have all my blog posts show on FaceBook - because I've seen others do this but since FaceBook is so much more accessible I'm wanting to have my FB status updates post to the blog. I'm not sure if this made sense or not but...I know what I'm talking about and asking for...HA...anyone else have any ideas?

Growth
We just got home this afternoon after 10 days of being away. We went to a family reunion for 2 days and then headed to Port Aransas for our annual family trip. Usually within the first 2 weeks of summer we all (Dad & Mom, we 3 girls and hubbies and kiddos) all spend a week together in Port A. As usual, we drug our feet about leaving...wishing for one more day...or two...
I loved driving up to the front of the house and seeing 10 days of growth and blooms on my plants! They all seemed fuller, greener and more beautiful than when we left! (We had our friend, Celeste S. taking care of the house, plants and pets while we were away.) I couldn't help but think, "If seeing growth on my plants brought that much joy, just imagine how our Heavenly Father feels when he looks at us and sees a little growth!!"

More Than Inspired
We attended the memorial service for a relative today. Dorothy was one of those ladies who was inspiring in life but, in death, even more so. I left her funeral today feeling that, yes, I am inspired to be that "virtuous woman" we heard about but that I need to be MORE than just inspired! I need to put that inspiration into action and get results. We heard that Dorothy wasn't the way she was because of being around perfect people all the time or always having the perfect circumstances or situations. On the contrary, she had a life with many ups and downs, as we all know. But, the reason she was the person she was, could be attributed to her allowing God to work in her. And, that is why the fruits of the Spirit were so evident in her life. Being inspired is one thing, putting it into action will require help.
"And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Galatians 5: 22, 23

Another try...
My hubby reminded me today that it's been a year since I've posted. I am going to try to start posting again for the sake of my family members who don't have FaceBook. I'll likely just post short little "blurbs" about our goings on because, evidently, trying to post big stories with lots of pictures is so overwhelming to me that I just choose not to post at all. ha So, we'll see how this goes....
My photos of our family and our girls are WAY out of date but I'm going to be patient with myself :) and update them when I have a chance!

The Month of May
This month has so many memories.
May 12 - this year was 20 years since I graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program at TJC in Tyler. I can honestly say I am so glad I chose dental hygiene as a profession. It has brought me so many opportunities and enabled me to work part time throughout our girls' entire lives so far.
May 13 - my birthday is on the 13th and this year was also 19 years since Scott asked me to marry him, on my birthday at Olive Garden restaurant in Austin, TX!
May 21 - my wonderful mother's birthday, the person I still hold up before me as the perfect example of what a mother should be.
May 26 - We attended an awards ceremony at the middle school for the 6th graders. There were three teachers for each subject and each teacher awarded two of his or her students for achievement and for excellence. Then at the end, the entire department of each subject awarded one 6th grade student the overall award for the entire 6th grade. We were so proud that Blaire received that 6th grade award for Reading. This will be her last year to take reading. Next year it will be replaced with Spanish.
May 29 - this year was 23 years since I graduated from high school; this year also marked one year since we lost our Papa Beeman. We continue to be thankful for his faithfulness! This is also the day we attended our oldest daughter, Brooke's, 8th grade celebration! It is so hard to believe that, in the fall, we will have a Freshman in High School!! You just really can't understand how fast it goes until you've experienced it! All I know is, it doesn't go that fast when you're the child - only when you're the parent! :) At the 8th grade celebration the class voted on awards that had six nominees in each category. Brooke had been nominated for Most Beautiful, Most Athletic and Most Feminine. She was voted most Feminine and we think that may be the most honorable of all! :)
May 31 - today is Memorial Day. On this Memorial Day I remember all those who have served our country. I remember both of my grandfathers and their service many years ago and my friends and classmates who have served since then. I remember watching many Christmas parades in Troup and seeing my Papa with tears running down his face as the flag went by. Even today I have a similar reaction during patriotic events. I remember the feeling I felt at each of my grandfather's funerals in the past couple of years as the servicemen performed the flag ceremony so dignified and so precious to each of us family members. I love being able to walk up to a soldier in dress uniform and saying, "Thank you for your service!" (Although I can rarely do this without my voice cracking or a tear showing up.) The families of servicemen also make a great sacrifice and I don't know if any past or present servicemen or their families will see this post but since I can't do that personally to many of you today please take this as my THANK YOU to all of you who have made that sacrifice, past, present and future!!

Phone Call From the Teacher's Desk! :)
I just had a phone call from Brooke at school. Her Algebra teacher had her call me from school at his desk to tell me that she was one of only 25 8th graders who managed to score 100% on Math TAKS this year!! That is a great accomplishment, for sure!! Just had to write a little brag! :)
A little P.S. on May 31: I just learned from Blaire yesterday that she made a perfect score on her Math TAKS, too! They just didn't have her call me like the 8th grade teacher did! :) I don't know where our girls got their Math skills but I do know it was NOT from me! ha

New Fashion Accessory
Blaire has been complaining about a sharp pain in the ball of her right foot. So, this morning I took her to the foot doctor we have used before. He determined she has a stress fracture in the bone leading to her 3rd toe. So, she will be in a walking boot for at least 2 weeks until he sees her again. He said it can heal on its own and we hope it does! A cast would NOT be fun to be dragging around this summer!! She has been amazing to me in so many things she's faced, like braces and other things; she has such a great and positive attitude. Once again, she's shining...not complaining, positive attitude and just being a trooper! Hopefully these 2 weeks will fly by and we'll learn that it is healing on its own!
